HTET 2026 – What Appearing Candidates Should Know
The Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test is conducted entirely offline via OMR sheets. Each level (PRT, TGT, PGT) features a single paper containing 150 objective-type multiple-choice questions (MCQs), carrying 150 marks in total. Candidates are allotted exactly 150 minutes (2.5 hours) to complete the test. A significant advantage for candidates is that there is no negative marking in the HTET exam; an incorrect answer will simply fetch zero marks.
To successfully qualify, candidates belonging to the General, OBC, and Other State categories must score at least 60% (90 marks out of 150). Candidates belonging to the SC and PH categories domiciled in Haryana enjoy a relaxed qualifying threshold of 55% (82 marks).
While the HTET certificate itself does not guarantee employment, it acts as a mandatory gateway. Qualifying Level I makes candidates eligible to apply for Primary Teacher (PRT) vacancies (typically Pay Level 6). Qualifying Level II opens doors for Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) roles (Pay Level 7), and Level III clears the path for Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) positions (Pay Level 8) in Haryana state government schools.
