Indian Army Agniveer 2026 – What Appearing Candidates Should Know
Agniveers are recruited under a highly structured, customized financial package over their 4-year tenure. In the 1st year, the customized package is ₹30,000 per month, yielding an in-hand salary of ₹21,000, while ₹9,000 is contributed to the Agniveer Corpus Fund (matched equally by the Government of India). By the 4th year, this package rises to ₹40,000 per month. Upon honorable exit after 4 years, candidates receive the accumulated Seva Nidhi package of approximately ₹11.71 Lakhs (tax-free), providing significant financial security for subsequent endeavors.
The Phase I Computer Based Entrance Exam (CEE) for Agniveer General Duty (GD) and Tradesmen comprises 50 multiple-choice questions for a total of 100 marks. The test evaluates candidates on General Knowledge (15 questions), General Science (15 questions), Mathematics (15 questions), and Logical Reasoning (5 questions). Candidates must score a minimum of 35 marks to pass. The marking scheme imposes a strict negative marking penalty—deducting 0.5 marks for every incorrect response, making accuracy critical to clearing the cutoff.
Post successful completion of the written exam, physical rally, and medical tests, candidates undergo stringent military training. Deployment spans across active combat zones, peace stations, and high-altitude terrains across India, identically matching the operational deployment of regular soldiers. Only those demonstrating exceptional operational, disciplinary, and physical metrics over their 4-year stint are considered for the 25% regular cadre retention pool.
