Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC), headquartered in Ajmer, is the constitutional body responsible for recruitment and selection to state services under the Government of Rajasthan. It operates under Article 315 of the Constitution of India. RPSC conducted the Sub-Inspector (SI) and Platoon Commander Recruitment Examination 2021 under Advertisement No. 08/Exam/SI-PC/EP-1/2020-21 for 857–859 posts in Rajasthan Police. Its official recruitment portal is rpsc.rajasthan.gov.in.

RPSC Rajasthan Police SI 2021 Re-Exam Date – Overview

Five years of uncertainty — and now a firm date. Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) has officially cancelled the Rajasthan Police Sub-Inspector (SI) / Platoon Commander Recruitment Examination 2021 following a recommendation by the Rajasthan state government and binding court orders, and has announced the re-exam date as 20 September 2026. The re-exam will be conducted for the originally notified 859 posts of Sub-Inspector (AP, IB, MBC) and Platoon Commander. RPSC Chairperson Utkal Ranjan Sahoo has confirmed that only 3,83,097 candidates who appeared in both Paper I and Paper II of the original exam held from 13–15 September 2021 are eligible for the re-exam. No fresh applications will be accepted. All eligible candidates must complete their application form submission via OTP verification between 16 May and 30 May 2026 — this step is mandatory even for candidates who do not need to make any corrections.

⚠️ Critical Alert — Correction Window: The application correction window opens 16 May 2026 — just 4 days from today. Even if you have no corrections to make, you are required to open your application form and complete final submission via OTP verification. Candidates who do NOT complete this OTP step will not receive an admit card for the re-exam.

Why Was the RPSC SI 2021 Exam Cancelled?

The RPSC SI Recruitment Examination 2021 became one of the most controversial police recruitment cases in Rajasthan's recent history. The following sequence of events led to the final cancellation and re-exam announcement:

  • Allegations of paper leak, impersonation, and dummy candidates surfaced shortly after the original written exam (13–15 September 2021). The Rajasthan Police Special Operations Group (SOG) initiated investigations, leading to the arrest of several trainee sub-inspectors who had been selected.
  • On 28 August 2025, a Single Bench of the Rajasthan High Court delivered a verdict cancelling the SI Recruitment 2021 process, citing compromise of the exam's sanctity and fairness.
  • On 4 April 2026, a Division Bench of the Rajasthan High Court upheld the Single Bench order, confirming the cancellation.
  • The selected trainee SIs challenged the Division Bench order in the Supreme Court of India. The Supreme Court declined to interfere, effectively allowing the High Court's cancellation order to stand.
  • Following this, the Rajasthan state government formally recommended a fresh examination to RPSC.
  • RPSC issued the re-exam notice on 8 May 2026, cancelling the entire 2021 process and announcing the re-exam for 20 September 2026.

RPSC has clarified that the re-examination will be conducted strictly as per the original advertisement dated 3 February 2021 and its corrigendum dated 7 June 2021. The exam pattern will remain unchanged. Enhanced security arrangements at exam centres are expected to prevent recurrence of any malpractice.

Application Correction Window – 16 to 30 May 2026 (Mandatory for All Eligible Candidates)

RPSC has opened a limited application correction facility exclusively for the 3,83,097 eligible candidates. The window runs from 16 May 2026 to 30 May 2026. The following rules apply:

What Can Be Changed (Corrections Permitted)

Detail Can Be Changed?
Mobile NumberYes
Email AddressYes
Correspondence / Residential AddressYes
Age / Date of BirthNo — as per 2021 original notification
Educational QualificationNo — as per 2021 original notification

How to Complete the Correction / OTP Submission

  1. Complete OTR KYC First: Before accessing the application correction link, candidates must ensure their OTR (One Time Registration) profile on sso.rajasthan.gov.in is KYC-verified. The updated live photograph, signature, and thumb impression saved in OTR will automatically populate into the application form.
  2. Login to SSO Portal: Visit sso.rajasthan.gov.in and log in with your SSO ID and password. Navigate to the RPSC application section for SI/Platoon Commander Recruitment 2021.
  3. Open Your Application Form: Open the existing submitted application form for RPSC SI 2021. Whether you need to make changes or not, you must open this form and proceed to the final submission step.
  4. Make Any Required Corrections: If you need to update mobile number, email, or address, make the changes at this stage. Leave other fields unchanged.
  5. Complete Final OTP Submission (Mandatory for ALL): Submit the application form using OTP verification. This step is compulsory for every eligible candidate — even those making no corrections. Without OTP submission, your name will not be linked to the re-exam and you will not receive the admit card.
  6. Save the Acknowledgement: After successful OTP submission, download and save the updated acknowledgement form for future reference.
⚠️ Do Not Skip OTP Submission: RPSC has explicitly clarified in the official notice that candidates who do not complete the OTP-based final submission during the correction window will not be issued admit cards for the re-exam, regardless of their original eligibility. This is a mandatory compliance step — not optional even for candidates with no corrections.

Who Is Eligible for the RPSC SI 2021 Re-Exam?

Eligible

  • Candidates who appeared in BOTH Paper I and Paper II of the original RPSC SI written exam conducted between 13–15 September 2021 — total 3,83,097 candidates.
  • Age, category, and educational qualification eligibility remains as per the original 2021 notification — no updated eligibility conditions apply.

Not Eligible

  • Candidates who registered for the 2021 exam but did not appear for both papers.
  • Candidates who appeared in only one paper out of the two.
  • No fresh applications will be accepted — the re-exam is not a new recruitment drive.
  • Previously selected/appointed trainee SIs whose appointment was cancelled by court order are not exempt from re-appearing if they meet the appeared-in-both-papers criterion — but their appointment as trainee SIs stands cancelled.
📋 Note: Since the recruitment process is being re-conducted as per the original 2021 notification, age relaxations and category-based reservations applicable to that cycle remain in force. No new or additional relaxations are being granted for the re-exam.

Salary and Service Conditions

Sub-Inspectors and Platoon Commanders appointed under this recruitment are placed in the Rajasthan State Government Pay Matrix at Level 10 (revised under 7th Pay Commission recommendations), with a starting basic pay of approximately ₹35,400 per month (pay scale ₹35,400 – ₹1,12,400). Including Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and other state government allowances, the estimated monthly in-hand salary is approximately ₹38,000 – ₹48,000 depending on the posting city and grade. Additional benefits include state government pension under NPS, medical benefits, uniform allowance, and leave encashment. SI and Platoon Commander posts are Rajasthan Police operational posts — candidates must be prepared for transfers across Rajasthan districts and shift-based duties.

Enhanced Security for the Re-Exam

RPSC and the Rajasthan government are expected to implement significantly stricter examination security measures for the 20 September 2026 re-exam, given the scale of the paper leak controversy in the 2021 cycle. These are anticipated to include biometric verification at exam centres, CCTV surveillance, jammers, and frisking. Candidates are advised to carry only the admit card and a valid photo ID to the exam centre, and to arrive at least 45–60 minutes before the exam start time to accommodate enhanced security checks.

RPSC SI 2021 Re-Exam 2026 – Frequently Asked Questions

Why was the RPSC SI Recruitment Exam 2021 cancelled?

The RPSC SI Recruitment Exam 2021 was cancelled due to proven allegations of paper leak, impersonation, and dummy candidates in the original exam held from 13–15 September 2021. The Rajasthan Police SOG arrested several trainee sub-inspectors during investigations. The Rajasthan High Court Single Bench cancelled the recruitment process on 28 August 2025; the Division Bench upheld this order on 4 April 2026; the Supreme Court declined to intervene. Following these court orders, the Rajasthan government recommended a fresh exam, and RPSC issued the official cancellation and re-exam notice on 8 May 2026.

What is the RPSC SI 2021 re-exam date?

The RPSC Rajasthan Police Sub-Inspector (SI) and Platoon Commander 2021 Re-Exam date is 20 September 2026 (Sunday). The exam will be conducted as per the original 2021 advertisement (Advt No. 08/Exam/SI-PC/EP-1/2020-21) for 859 posts. The exam pattern and syllabus remain unchanged from the 2021 cycle.

Who is eligible to appear in the RPSC SI 2021 re-exam?

Candidates who registered but did not appear for both papers are not eligible. No fresh applications will be accepted — this is a re-conduct of the same 2021 recruitment, not a new drive.

What is the application correction window for RPSC SI Re-Exam 2026 and what can be changed?

The application correction window is open from 16 May 2026 to 30 May 2026 on sso.rajasthan.gov.in. Candidates can update their mobile number, email address, and correspondence/residential address only. Age, educational qualification, reservation category, and the post applied for cannot be changed. Eligibility conditions remain as per the original 2021 notification.

Is OTP submission mandatory even if I have no corrections to make?

Yes — unconditionally mandatory. RPSC has clarified in the official re-exam notice that every eligible candidate must open their application form and complete the final OTP-based submission between 16 and 30 May 2026, even if they are making no changes at all. Candidates who skip this step will not receive an admit card for the 20 September 2026 re-exam. Before doing so, candidates must complete KYC verification in their OTR (One Time Registration) profile on sso.rajasthan.gov.in.

What is the exam pattern for the RPSC SI 2021 re-exam?

The exam pattern is identical to the 2021 original. Total: 200 questions, 400 marks, 4 hours across two sessions. Negative marking of 1/3 mark per wrong answer applies to both papers. Minimum qualifying marks are as per the 2021 notification.

Rajasthan Police Sub-Inspectors are placed at Level 10 of the Rajasthan State Government Pay Matrix (revised per 7th Pay Commission recommendations), with a starting basic pay of approximately ₹35,400 per month (pay scale ₹35,400 – ₹1,12,400). Including DA, HRA, and uniform allowance, the estimated monthly in-hand salary is approximately ₹38,000 – ₹48,000. The posting is across Rajasthan districts; candidates must be prepared for transfers and rotational duties. Additional benefits include NPS pension, medical benefits, and CSD canteen access.
