Following the declaration of CBT 1 results, shortlisted candidates will face the CBT 2 examination scheduled for 28 July 2026. The initial recruitment drive aimed to fill 10,970 ALP vacancies across various regional zones. Applications were open from 12 April 2025 to 19 May 2025 at indianrailways.gov.in. The minimum qualification required was Class 10th (Matriculation) alongside a relevant ITI, Diploma, or B.E/B.Tech degree. General, OBC, and EWS applicants paid an initial fee of ₹500, with a ₹400 refund post-CBT-1 attendance, while SC/ST/PH/Female candidates paid ₹250.

Candidates applying for the ALP posts were required to hold a Class 10 (Matriculation) certificate alongside an ITI (NCVT/SCVT) in trades like Fitter, Electrician, Instrument Mechanic, Wireman, Turner, Machinist, etc. Alternatively, candidates with a Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or Automobile Engineering, or those holding a B.E/B.Tech degree in these specific streams were fully eligible. The baseline age limit was 18 to 30 years as on 01 July 2025.

1. Visit the Centralized Portal: Navigate to rrb.digialm.com or check your specific regional RRB website.
2. Access Candidate Login: Click on the link for 'CEN 01/2025 Assistant Loco Pilot Result / CBT 2 Exam City'.
3. Enter Credentials: Log in using your unique Registration Number and Date of Birth as the password.
4. View Details: Your CBT 1 Scorecard and qualifying status for CBT 2 will be displayed. You can also view your CBT 2 Exam City.
5. Download Admit Card: The final e-Call letter for the 28 July 2026 exam will be available for download exactly 4 days before the test.

RRB Assistant Loco Pilot 2025 – What Appearing Candidates Should Know

The RRB ALP CBT 2 is substantially more complex than CBT 1 and is structured in two distinct parts. Part A consists of 100 questions covering Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, and Basic Science & Engineering, with a 90-minute time limit. The marks scored in Part A heavily dictate the candidate's progression to the next phase (CBAT) and final merit ranking. Part B consists of 75 questions to be answered in 60 minutes. Part B evaluates trade-specific technical knowledge relevant to the candidate’s ITI/Diploma/Degree stream. Part B is strictly qualifying in nature; candidates must score a minimum of 35% to pass, regardless of their community category. A negative marking penalty of 1/3 mark applies to incorrect answers in both parts.

Candidates who successfully qualify CBT 2 (Part A and Part B) are shortlisted for the final Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT). The CBAT measures cognitive abilities, reaction time, and decision-making under stress—essential traits for train operators. Candidates must clear all test batteries in the CBAT. The final merit list is synthesized by assigning a 70% weightage to CBT 2 Part A marks and a 30% weightage to the CBAT score.

Selected candidates are appointed as Assistant Loco Pilots under Pay Level 2 of the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC). The initial basic pay is fixed at ₹19,900. However, the take-home salary is highly amplified by the inclusion of Running Allowances, which are calculated based on the kilometers piloted per month. When combining basic pay, Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance (TA), and Running Allowances, the initial gross monthly salary for an ALP frequently touches ₹35,000 to ₹45,000, varying heavily with operational schedules.
