RRB JE CBT II 2026 – What Appearing Candidates Should Know
The Stage-II Computer Based Test (CBT II) is the core merit-deciding examination. It consists of 150 objective-type questions to be completed in 120 minutes (2 hours). The paper is heavily weighted towards technical abilities: Technical Abilities (100 questions), General Awareness (15 questions), Physics & Chemistry (15 questions), Basics of Computers and Applications (10 questions), and Basics of Environment and Pollution Control (10 questions). Crucially, RRB enforces a strict negative marking policy, deducting 1/3rd of a mark for every incorrect answer.
Candidates must secure the minimum qualifying marks in CBT II (UR: 40%, OBC/EWS: 30%, SC: 30%, ST: 25%) to be considered for the final merit list. Upon clearing CBT II, candidates will be called for Document Verification (DV) and a Medical Examination. The medical standards for Indian Railways technical staff are exceptionally rigorous (e.g., A3, B1, B2, C1), ensuring personnel are fully fit for demanding operational roles.
