SSB Head Constable (Min) 2020 – What Appearing Candidates Should Know
The Computer Based Test (CBT) is a crucial phase following the physical tests. The written examination consists of a single paper containing 100 objective-type multiple-choice questions carrying 100 marks, to be completed in 2 hours (120 minutes). The syllabus covers General Knowledge, Mathematics, Reasoning, and General English/General Hindi. Candidates must secure the minimum qualifying marks (typically 50% for General/EWS/OBC and 45% for SC/ST) to be considered for the next stage.
Candidates who successfully clear the CBT will be called for the Skill Test (Typing Test). The skill test is strictly qualifying in nature. Candidates must demonstrate a typing speed of 35 words per minute in English or 30 words per minute in Hindi on a computer. Final selection will be based exclusively on the merit of marks obtained in the written examination (CBT), subject to qualifying the typing test and passing the Detailed Medical Examination (DME).
Selected candidates will be appointed as Head Constable (Ministerial) and placed in Pay Level-4 (₹25,500 – ₹81,100) under the 7th CPC. Including basic pay, Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance, and CAPF-specific allowances like Ration Money Allowance, the gross initial monthly salary generally ranges between ₹38,000 and ₹45,000, depending on the posting location.
