Delhi HJS Recruitment 2026 – Selection Process & Salary

The selection process for the Delhi Higher Judicial Service consists of three successive stages:

  1. Preliminary Examination: An objective-type test (200 marks) serving as a screening mechanism. It evaluates General Legal Knowledge & Law. A negative marking penalty of 0.25 marks applies for every incorrect answer. Candidates must secure a minimum of 45% marks to qualify.
  2. Mains Examination (Written): A descriptive test spanning 4 papers (General Knowledge & Language, Civil Law-I, Civil Law-II, Criminal Law) worth a total of 850 marks.
  3. Viva-Voce (Interview): The final personality and legal acumen assessment carrying 150 marks.
  4. Selected candidates will be appointed to the Delhi Higher Judicial Service and placed under the lucrative Pay Scale J-5 (₹ 1,44,840 – ₹ 1,94,660), inclusive of substantial additional allowances like DA, HRA, Medical Allowances, and other perks standard for the state judiciary.
