BSF HC (RO) & HC (RM) 2025 – PET & PST Qualified Candidates Overview
The Border Security Force conducted physical efficiency and standard tests across designated centers nationwide for the Head Constable (Radio Operator) and Head Constable (Radio Mechanic) posts under the 2025 recruitment cycle. The physical assessment measured candidates' endurance, strength, and physical fitness through standardized tests including running, long jump, high jump, and other prescribed physical activities. The Physical Standard Test verified anthropometric measurements against the prescribed standards for BSF recruitment.
Qualified candidates from this stage will now proceed to the next phase of selection, which typically includes written examination, trade test (for technical posts), and document verification. The BSF follows a multi-stage selection process to ensure only the most capable candidates are inducted into the force for specialized roles like Radio Operator and Radio Mechanic, which are critical for the communication infrastructure of border security operations.

BSF Head Constable 2025 – What Qualified Candidates Should Know
Head Constables (Radio Operator) and Head Constables (Radio Mechanic) inducted under BSF 2025 are placed in Pay Level-4 of the 7th Central Pay Commission, with a basic pay range of ₹25,500 – ₹81,100. BSF personnel posted to border areas are also entitled to Special Compensatory Border Area Allowance at varying rates depending on the terrain classification (high-altitude, desert, riverine sectors), which significantly augments the base salary. In addition to standard DA, HRA, and TA, technical cadre positions like Radio Mechanic receive a Technical Pay component as recognition of specialized skills, making the expected monthly in-hand approximately ₹35,000 – ₹40,000 for border postings and ₹32,000 – ₹36,000 for non-border locations.
Qualified candidates will now be called for the Written Examination, which tests general intelligence and reasoning, general knowledge and awareness of current affairs, quantitative aptitude, and English/Hindi language proficiency. The written test is computer-based and carries negative marking for incorrect answers. For Radio Mechanic posts, an additional Trade Test will assess practical knowledge of radio equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair work. Final merit will be determined based on the combined performance in written examination and trade test (where applicable), followed by document verification.
Selected candidates will be deployed to BSF battalions and sectors across India's international borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh, covering diverse terrains from the deserts of Rajasthan to the riverine areas of West Bengal and Assam, and from the snowbound regions of Jammu & Kashmir to the coastal sectors of Gujarat. Radio Operators and Radio Mechanics form the critical communication backbone for all BSF operations, ensuring uninterrupted wireless connectivity between patrol parties, border outposts, and command headquarters. Proficiency in the regional language of the deployment state is operationally important, as BSF personnel frequently coordinate with local administration and civilian populations in border villages.
Important Instructions for Qualified Candidates
Document Verification Requirements: Candidates must carry original documents including educational certificates (10th, 12th, graduation/diploma as applicable), caste certificate (if claiming reservation), domicile/residence certificate, passport-size photographs, and government-issued photo ID proof at all subsequent stages. Any discrepancy between online application data and original documents will result in disqualification.
Candidates are advised to maintain physical fitness standards even after qualifying PET/PST, as the written examination and subsequent stages may have health assessment components. The BSF reserves the right to conduct re-verification of physical standards at any stage of the selection process. Any candidate found to have obtained qualification through fraudulent means or misrepresentation will face immediate disqualification and legal action under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code.
All future communications regarding admit card download for written examination, exam schedule, venue details, and result announcements will be published exclusively on the official BSF recruitment website. Candidates must regularly monitor the official portal and ensure their registered email address and mobile number remain active throughout the recruitment process.
