SSC MTS & Havaldar Result 2026 – Data & Trend Analysis
Against the notice issued on 26 June 2025, SSC received 36,19,834 applications for 8,021 posts, of which 8,04,633 candidates actually appeared for the CBT held across multiple shifts from 4 to 20 February 2026. Since Havaldar posts are shortlisted for PET/PST in a 1:7 (vacancy:candidates) ratio, roughly 8,477 candidates have been called forward against the 1,211 Havaldar vacancies.
Comparing this cycle against the previous SSC MTS & Havaldar (CBIC & CBN) Examination, 2023-24 (result declared January 2025, total vacancy 9,583 — MTS 6,144 + Havaldar 3,439), the 2025 cycle's total notified vacancy of 8,021 marks roughly a 16% decrease overall. MTS vacancies actually rose by about 11% (6,144 → 6,810), while Havaldar vacancies fell sharply by around 65% (3,439 → 1,211) — meaning Havaldar competition for PET/PST this year is considerably tighter than the previous cycle.

SSC MTS & Havaldar Result 2026 – What Qualified Candidates Should Know
MTS and Havaldar posts selected under this drive are placed in Pay Level-1 of the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC), with a basic pay of ₹18,000 (pay band ₹5,200 – ₹20,200, Grade Pay ₹1,800). With Dearness Allowance (currently 58% of basic pay, effective 1 July 2025), House Rent Allowance, and Travel Allowance added, the expected monthly in-hand salary is approximately ₹27,000 – ₹31,000, varying by city classification (X/Y/Z).
Candidates shortlisted for Havaldar posts must next qualify the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST) — a qualifying-only stage measuring walking endurance (1,600 metres in 15 minutes for men, 1 kilometre in 20 minutes for women) along with minimum height and chest standards. PwBD candidates are exempt from PET/PST. MTS candidates, once their result is declared, move directly to Document Verification without any physical test.
Havaldar posts are attached to the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) and the Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN) under the Ministry of Finance, while MTS posts are spread across various central government ministries and departments in non-technical, Group C roles. Final selection for both posts will be based on normalised Session-II marks, category-wise cut-off, and post/department preference submitted at the time of application.
