India Post GDS 2026 – What Qualified Candidates Should Know
Candidates selected as Branch Postmaster (BPM) under India Post GDS 2026 are placed in a Time Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA) slab of ₹12,000 – ₹29,380. Those selected as Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM) or Dak Sevaks receive a TRCA of ₹10,000 – ₹24,470. In addition to the base TRCA, operatives are entitled to applicable Dearness Allowance (DA) as declared by the Central Government, making the starting in-hand figures competitive for rural deployments.
The Document Verification (DV) stage for India Post GDS 2026 is exceptionally stringent because there is no written exam. Inspecting authorities will strictly verify the authenticity of the Class 10 board marksheet, computer literacy certificate, category certificate (if applicable), and date of birth. Any discrepancy between the marks entered in the online portal and the physical marksheet will result in outright rejection. Candidates are granted a Provisional engagement status until the original issuing boards fully authenticate the educational certificates.
Qualifiers will be deployed strictly to the rural Branch Post Offices (BOs) within the postal circle they originally applied for. As per the GDS engagement rules, selected candidates are required to take up residence within the delivery jurisdiction of the Post Office before their official engagement begins. For BPMs, providing a suitable accommodation space for the Branch Post Office operations is a mandatory condition of deployment.
